Bioinformatics and Genomics
The Research Group on Bioinformatics and Genomics is a research group of the Center for Genomic Regulation (CRG) affiliated to Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF) led by Dr. Roderic Guigó. The group focuses on the investigation of the signals involved in gene specification in genomic sequences (promoter elements, splice sites, translation initiation sites, ...). The group is interested both in the mechanism of their recognition and processing, and in their evolution.
The main research lines are:
- Gene Prediction and Modeling of Splicing.
- Identification and characterization of genomic regions involved in Gene Regulation.
- Molecular Evolution and evolution of splicing.
